Joshua Zirkzee netted the decisive penalty for 10-player Manchester United against Arsenal following a thrilling FA Cup third-round clash that ended 1-1 after extra time at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal's Kai Havertz was the sole miss among the initial four penalty takers, thanks to an excellent save by Altay Bayindir. Zirkzee, who faced jeers during a recent defeat to Newcastle United, confidently secured the 5-3 win in the shootout.

Manchester United wins on penaltys
Manchester United secured their spot in the FA Cup fourth round after Altay Bayindir's two crucial penalty saves propelled them past Arsenal.

Following a lackluster opening half, United seized the advantage in the 52nd minute with Bruno Fernandes delivering a superb curling shot from inside the area, set up by Alejandro Garnacho's impressive run.

The momentum shifted drastically 10 minutes later as United's Diogo Dalot, having been cautioned for a rough tackle on Myles Lewis-Skelly, received a second yellow card for another rash challenge on Mikel Merino.

Shortly after, Bayindir's misguided punch attempt placed the ball at Gabriel Magalhães' feet, whose deflected strike off Matthijs de Ligt leveled the score for the home side.

Arsenal nearly completed their rally with a dubious penalty decision when Havertz went down under minimal contact from Harry Maguire.

However, Bayindir made a brilliant stop against Arsenal skipper Martin Ødegaard, while Mikel Arteta's team missed multiple opportunities to clinch victory.

Manchester United will learn their next opponent for the fourth round when the draw takes place later on Sunday evening.
